Tired of Constant Headaches, Neck Pains?
Most people don’t think about the dentist relieving their neck pains and headaches, but that’s exactly what our Miami dental office specializes in. Annoying headaches and neck pain can severely lower your quality of life or seriously affect your personal and professional life.
About 10 million Americans suffer from problems caused by their temporomandibular joint (TMJ), and most of those people have no idea a dentist can solve their problems. Or worse, they ignore the issue altogether and put themselves at a higher risk for severe dental issues down the road.
At Greenstein Dental, we use state-of-the-art technology, orthotic therapy, and orthodontics as TMJ Treatment to solve your headaches and neck pains. Dr. Greenstein uses gneuromuscular dentistry – a holistic process by which dentists align your jaw, muscles, and nerves to correct TMJ problems.
Resolving Your Headaches Problems
The temporomandibular joint attaches to your lower jawbone. We use this joint hundreds of times a day for chewing, speaking, yawning, etc. When that joint is not properly synchronized with the muscles and nerves in your jaw, patients often experience severe headaches or grind and clench their teeth.
In addition to soreness, patients often experience clicking or popping in their jaw, ringing in their ears, sinus pain, dizzy spells, pain around the eyes, or even tingling in their fingertips.
There are often multiple signs in your mouth indicating the need for a gneuromuscular approach to improving the health and longevity of your teeth and supporting structures. Worn or chipped teeth, narrow upper or lower jaws, and receding gums or notches in the teeth close to the gumline are just a few of the common features indicating muscles and joints are not functioning together properly.
Through the use of the J5 Myomonitor TENS unit and K7 instrumentation, we can find an appropriate bite scheme and diagnose your TMJ pain. The K7 technology assesses your TMJ issues using electromyography and sonography, while the TENS unit allows Dr. Greenstein to relax the muscles in the face and neck in order to find the appropriate placement for your jaw joints, muscles, and teeth.
Once we scan your jaw and and assess your bite, Dr. Greenstein will craft an orthotic device that sits on your lower jaw. The device moves your jaw into a natural resting position and helps synchronize your jaw, muscles, and nerves to relieve your pain.
While the orthotic does retrain your muscle and joints – and can provide relief almost instantly – it does not correct your bite. Often times, Dr. Greenstein will recommend orthodontic or restorative treatment for more long-term success.
TMJ-related pains like blinding migraines or jaw soreness are truly debilitating and cause tremendous emotional unrest. By using applied gneuromuscular techniques, we can find a proper bite and comfortable joint and muscle location that will stop your headaches in their tracks.
