Q: Is it too late for me to have orthodontic work?

A: It’s never too late to get the smile of your dreams. Just ask the countless adult patients we’ve treated using orthodontics and Invisalign. Dr. Greenstein has even used metal braces to treat many Greenstein Dental staff members.

Our office uses metal braces on adults and younger patients to fix crooked, gapped, or impacted teeth, as well as overbites, underbites, and crossbites. We also regularly use metal braces as the last phase in treating TMJ issues. As part of Dr. Greenstein’s gneuromuscular dentistry practices, he uses orthodontics – usually metal braces – to correct the bite to ensure that your jaw and bite are working in harmony. By fixing the bite and positioning of the jaw, Dr. Greenstein can eliminate your TMJ issues for good.

For many of our working professionals and teens, we offer Invisalign, a system that uses clear aligners to correct teeth. While Invisalign cannot fix major bite issues, this treatment can straighten your teeth without the hassle of metal brackets and wires. You simply wear the clear, removable trays for at least 22 hours a day, only removing the appliance for eating and cleaning. The clear brackets are 100 percent discrete. In fact, your friends and family will probably not even know you’re undergoing treatment.

Q: How long do I have to wait for a permanent crown?

A: A typical dental office will place a dental crown over the course of two or three visits. This means you have to schedule time off work or spend time away from your family several times to complete one common dental procedure.

At Greenstein Dental, we can give you natural-looking permanent crowns in just one visit. You will not have to schedule two or three visits to our office for your restoration. Using the CEREC technology, we can provide patients with same-day crowns that are durable and blend in with your natural smile. Our CEREC crowns are all-ceramic and are designed and created right before your very eyes. You can actually watch the crown being shaped in the machine after your tooth is prepared. By making the crown procedure safe and quick, we can take away much of the fear element and make the patient confident about their smile again.

Q: Can a dentist solve my constant headaches or neck pain?

A: If you have constant headaches or neck pain, you are probably surprised to know that a dentist can relieve your pain. Well, it’s true. Using gneuromuscular dentistry techniques, Dr. Greenstein can move your jaw and bite into a more appropriate, relaxed position and eliminate those nagging headaches and neck pains.

Gneuromuscular dentistry focuses on the relationship between your temporomandibular joint (TMJ), muscles, and nerves. When those tissues do not act together, they become stressed and are capable of giving patients debilitating headaches, neck pain, jaw soreness, ringing in the ears, etc. Most patients with TMJ issues will grind or clench their teeth and experience jaw locks, popping, or clicking.

Dr. Greenstein spends hours consulting his TMJ patients. He first runs through a series of jaw and bite tests using state-of-the-art scanning system. Then, he usually crafts an orthotic device to correct the jaw position and provides orthodontics to correct the bite.

Q: How can dental implants improve my oral health?

A: Dental implants are the closest thing to natural teeth available in dentistry today. If you have missing teeth or even entire arches of missing teeth, dental implants can give you your biting force and smile back.

We recommend dental implants for patients with missing teeth or those patients who are tired of floppy or ill-fitting dentures. Dental implants can give you about 90 percent of the chewing force you had with natural teeth, and they preserve your jawbone. When you lose your teeth, your jawbone loses its chief function and begins to recede. Patients with a receding jawbone see the vertical height between their chin and nose grow closer over time. Dental implants naturally fuse to and preserve your jawbone while also supporting an individual crown or new set of permanent teeth.

Dental implants can be placed under local anesthesia, and the recovery time is minimal. If cared for properly, dental implants can last a lifetime.
